Why did I decide to do this fan website?
Since Independent Film Channel started showing many of these ZATOICHI films every Saturday morning (a few years ago), I've been hooked. Good passion plays are hard to come by, but I had discovered pure gold. Being a life-long fan of the art of the film, especially world cinema, I know what I look for in a film. I study the acting, the writing, the direction, the lighting, the cinematography, the music, etc. For years I've enjoyed the films of the great filmmaking legends--people like John Huston, Werner Herzog, Akira Kurosawa, Lars Von Trier. I've especially found myself attacted to independent films--movies that had a harder edge, that took more chances than the mainstream industry. Well, these ZATOICHI movies have it all. They are pure ecstasy! All carried by the phenomenal Japanese actor Shintaro Katsu, they have made a permanent, positive impact on my life.
The photos compiled in these gallery pages have been picked from my personal collection, and were "borrowed" by me from various other ZATOICHI sites, so I humbly beg forgiveness, as my intent was merely to provide some additional enjoyment to the ever-growing Blind Swordsman following.
